HSV's unique Coupe 4 became an instant icon. Combining its constant AWD and the 270kw LS1 V8, the Coupe 4 started life as a left-hand drive Pontiac GTO bodyshell. This allowed the fitment of the twin exhaust outlets either side of the US-spec fuel tank.The Coupe 4 was taken off the Elizabeth production line and its larger wheel arches plasma-cut, rolled, spot-welded and 100 per cent checked before being put back on HSV’s Clayton assembly line. There the springs, dampers, brakes, DANA-supplied front and rear AWD subframes and the lower control arms and steering knuckle assembly were factory fitted.According to HSV records, only 132 Coupe 4s were built. Only available in Phantom Black, Quicksilver and Sting Red they are instantly recognisable due to their wide stance and flared guards. Build No. 131 has the rare sunroof option.The owner of Build No.131 had Harrop fit a brake upgrade kit to the car including six-piston front calipers and 382x18mm front and 340x18mm rear ventilated and grooved Harrop discs. The original 19" alloy wheels have been painted in Phantom black to match the car. Tyres are Michelin Pilot Super Sports 255/35-19 front and 275/35-19 rear. The car has also been fitted with custom Tein suspension which can be set for 18 different road settings from off road to race track. There’s also the HSV-exclusive white instrument cluster, HSV multi-function display, HSV LED interior lighting effect, alloy pedals and centre binnacle with oil pressure and volt meter gauges, while other standard equipment includes dual-zone climate-control and a Blaupunkt Premium 260-watt audio system with in-dash six-disc CD changer and rear sub-woofers.The car comes with the original unused spare plus one spare 19" alloy rim also painted black.
