Seller's Description
This car was one of a group of four or five cars that were built by Arrol Aster in 1928. These cars were built to compete in long distance races in Europe and Great Britain. There is photographic evidence of two of these cars competing at Ards in Northern Ireland and one or more of them competing in the 24 Heures de LeMans in France. We have an elaborate dossier of research documents to support this. I have included a photograph of one of the cars numbered 61. The famous racing car driver Eddie Hall competed at Ards in an Arrol-Aster numbered 61. This is one of only two of the original group remaining. Both cars were rebodied as sedans around 1930 when Arrol Aster was in the throes of liquidation to make the cars more saleable. The other remaining car is still bodied as a sedan and resides in the Edinburgh Museum. The engine has been extensively rebuilt. It boasts a single sleeve valve engine (Burt McCullim Patent), four speed gearbox and a 4:1 differential ratio. The body is a replica of the body it wore in its racing days. It has a green leather interior and new side curtains. It has excellent brakes and is at its best doing long touring. This was my late father’s pride and joy and he devoted a lot of time and resources to restoring and researching this rare car including travelling to Dumfries in Scotland where the car was made. It is in immaculate condition.
