- Chrysler Valiant Charger
- Bolwell Nagari
Australian-made cars for sale in Australia include some of this country’s best-known and most popular vehicles, like the Holden Monaro, Ford Falcon GT-HO, Holden Kingswood, Holden Sandman, Ford Fairlane and Holden Torana, to name a few.
Other early Holdens (FJ, EH, Gemini, Statesman, early Commodores, etc.) and Australian Fords (XK through to EF Falcons, Fairmonts, Cortinas, etc.) are also popular, as well as the ‘performance’ derivatives of these brands, like HDT, HSV, Tickford, Walkinshaw Performance and FPV.
But if you’re thinking of buying a classic or collectable Australian car, your choices don’t end with Holden and Ford.
Australian-made or assembled Chryslers (Valiants, Chargers, Royals, Galants, etc.) are very popular here, with BMC/British Leyland the only other manufacturer to produce Australian cars in volume, as opposed to locally-built versions of foreign cars.
Foreign brands assembling and manufacturing cars here resulted in the production of some models that were unique to Australia, like the Volkswagen Country Buggy, Mini K, Goggomobil Dart and Morris Major Elite: all of which are suitable for inclusion in this category.
Export versions of familiar American cars that came here, like the DeSoto Diplomat and Pontiac Parisienne, appear for sale in Australia periodically, but will usually be listed in the ‘American’ category, as they are generally regarded as American. These cars may be listed in the Australian category at JUST CARS’ discretion.
Australian-made cars also include home-grown small-volume and kit car brands, like Bolwell, Perentti, DRB, Elfin and others.
All Australian-made passenger vehicles and light commercials 25 years old or older are suitable for this category, but newer vehicles are subject to conditions like rarity, collectability, performance characteristics and modifications (eg. an HSV Gen F Clubsport is suitable, but a standard VF Commodore is NOT suitable. A stock BF Falcon is NOT suitable, but a heavily-modified version would be suitable).
To be suitable for listing in this category, vehicles MUST be in complete or near complete condition, even if disassembled. Groups of random parts and vehicles regarded as being beyond near-complete condition will not be listed.
