Seller's Description
One for the collector and enthusiasts is this almost complete 1935 MG PB that is one of only 526 built and one of only a few remaining on the road. This PB, which pre-dates the TA, is ready either for a refurbishment or a modest repair to enjoy its patina. This example is No.475 of the 526 made and renown for its overhead-cam crossflow engine. This engine has a capacity of 939cc (up from the PA’s 847cc) and had 32kW driving the rear wheels through a non-synchro four-speed gearbox. The engine block is new. It also had mechanical brakes — but since converted to a full hydraulic system — and solid axles on semi-elliptic springs. The PB is of interest to collectors because it marked the end of that OHC engine as MG abandoned it with the 1936 TA with a less sophisticated OHV 1292cc unit. The PB is also the sister to the six-cylinder OHC N-Type Magnette. Like the other cars of its era, it has a steel body over an ash (wood) frame. This car has been in WA for some time and has been in regular use until a few years ago. It needs to be completed — the floors need fitting, for example — but otherwise is in very good order with no noted issues with the drivetrain or chassis. It also has nearly all its parts and those not included in the sale are available because they are common to other early MGs. The car is sold without a road licence but can be licensed either though a relevant car club or full road licence can be obtained. This vehicle can be inspected in Perth. Additional photos are available on request. Transport to any buyer location and inspection reports can be arranged at buyer cost. While information supplied for this listing has been taken in good faith, prospective buyers should undertake their own research and investigation before purchase.
