Just arrived - This 1949 Riley RMB is a beautiful classic ready for Sunday drives. Riley's first post-war model, the RMA saloon gave way to the RMB. ``As old as the industry - as modern as the hour`` was Riley's slogan, a great descriptor of this car. It was designed to be equipped with sports-car performance and town-car luxuries. To achieve this, the RMB was longer in the body than its predecessor and benefited from an extra litre in engine capacity. Approximately 6,900 RMBs were produced with Australia being their strongest export market. Like all RMBs, this RMB is fit with a 2 1/2L twin-cam OHV 4-cylinder motor, twin SU carburettors, and a 4-speed manual gearbox. The hemispherical combustion chamber gives the RMB higher compression ratios and improved airflow, increasing power and torque. Pair this with durable cast iron and you have a recipe for performance and reliability. It is tidy but certainly not new, being an older restoration with a sizable file of receipts dating back to 2005 showing work done over the years. The roof has seen new vinyl, the radiator flushed and repaired, wheel cylinders overhauled, and plenty more.
