With Cleveland 390 big block and Multi-Drive CRUISE-O-MATIC This 1965 Mercury Monterey convertible is in its factory-correct colors with the original big block 390 V8. These Mercury cars were big and blocky like their Lincoln siblings, with all the sharply creased sheet metal looking timeless. Displaying plenty of style with everything from the sporty front guard trim to the rear bumper that's so large it makes up half of the back end. Mercury’s were produced in far fewer numbers than more mass-market cars like Fords. That especially holds true for convertibles. There were less than 4,800 Monterey drop-tops made in 1965, and over 55 years later, they are far and few between. This car was the 9,284th Mercury built at the Wayne Assembly Plant (MI) in 1965. The Black bodywork is clean and dead straight, good glossy look and great as a regular cruiser. The white convertible top is in great condition and has a clean look that makes for a great combo against the Black paint. And if you like the way this looks, then you'll love powering it down to reveal the white interior. The interior has a great feeling of an upscale classic style with the thin dual-spoke factory steering wheel that gives you a clear view of the bright gauge panel. This one stays faithful to its vintage style, right down to the working courtesy lights and working original AM radio. The Cleveland 390 cubic-inch big block V-8 motor is the original motor and was rated at 250hp when new. It drives strong, smooth and starts easily with its original auto choke function. It has a new dual exhaust and with power steering, power brakes, power top and the Multi Drive Cruise-O-Matic, this car is an incredible smooth and effortless Cruiser.
