Seller's Description
THE STORY Introduced in September 1966 and based on the American Falcon, the XR Falcon was promoted as the “Mustang-bred Falcon”. This was the first Aussie Falcon to be offered with a V8 engine - Ford’s sweet 289ci (4.7 L) Windsor unit – coupled to a four-barrel carburettor. The dawn of the Aussie muscle car started in 1967 when the XR GT variant was released - it featured a 225HP version of the 289ci engine and was developed from Fords’ special Police Interceptor Pack. Except for a handful of cars, all of the original GTs were painted in “GT Gold”. There were many body options with the XR, including a Coupe Utility which are rare to find today given that they were used and abused as work horses. THE CAR Built in 1967 this modified XR Ute is finished in stunning GT Gold - the paint, stainless steel and chrome are all outstanding. Inside the cabin, the plush velour upholstery, doors cards, headlining, carpets and dash are all in excellent condition. This Ute is powered by an extremely strong 351ci Ford Cleveland V8 and is fuelled by direct gas with twin mixers and MSD ignition. Top end power is linear – she pulls like a train. Gears are changed via a Ford C4 automatic transmission that has a B&M Quickshift setup. Other goodies include a McDonald 4-link rear suspension, a Billet 9-inch differential with a 3.5:1 ratio, 4-wheel disc brakes, heavy duty tail shaft, adjustable shock absorbers, power steering, extractors to twin exhausts, a twin thermo fan setup and Weld Racing wheels all round. The car has an alarm system, remote central locking and a remote bonnet release system. The tonneau cover is near new and in excellent condition. Currently on WA registration. Very quick and very cool.
