1968 Chrysler New Yorker 4 Door Pillarless, in close to factory original condition. This car has been repainted in its original Forest Green in recent times, with the factory installed green vinyl roof untouched and still in good condition.
The car has a Dark Tan vinyl interior with the front bench seat having been restored to factory original, while the rear seat is still the factory original vinyl. The carpets have been replaced and are now a plush style material in a medium tan color and the headliner has been refurbished to a cloth material. The original-style material headliner is available with the car, if required.
This car comes with a number of Chrysler factory options, including power windows, power steering, power brakes, musicmaster AM radio with rear speaker, full vinyl top, brand new tinted windscreen, 3 speed wipers, twin mirrors with the driver side being remote controlled, factory door edge guards and wheel arch mouldings, original hubcaps, fender turn indicators, Chrysler autotemp airconditioning and a heavy duty 26 inch radiator.
Also, the 15 inch whitewall tires have very few miles on them and both the front and rear bumpers have been recently rechromed at a cost of over $1200. Other mechanical work done includes a full rebuild of the brake system with the master cylinder overhauled, new wheel cylinders front and rear and new rear brake drums installed. KYB Gas-Adjust shockers have also been installed and have greatly assisted the ride of the car.
The previous US owner installed an AM/FM/CB radio in the car, but did not alter the original dash in any way and the original Chrysler AM radio still sits in the dash waiting to be re-connected, if required. Electronic ignition has also been installed.
This is a great "C-body" cruiser in near original factory condition. It's over 18 foot of great fun to drive that attracts a lot of attention wherever it goes and represents part of motoring history. The Chrysler New Yorker is 60's American History at its finest. Please don't expect a car that has great brakes or handling - that's not what this era gave us. The ride is ssssooooooo smooth, brakes are adequate for power assisted 4 wheel drums and it floats around corners rather than driving.......but this car has a definite presence and is a great example of Chrysler's finest.
