MG’s six-cylinder MGC was the car that took the brand’s key model to places most buyers always wanted. A place that was reached quicker and provided a tonne more of the fun factor that the extra 50 horsepower had on tap. The MGC GT was promoted as the brand’s performance model, highlighted by the inline six-cylinder engine and the plan for it to replace the Austin-Healey 3000. It wasn’t as popular as the original four-cylinder MGB — despite having almost the same fuel consumption -- largely because of its extra purchase price and a constrained supply of the six-cylinder engine. Now it is a very rare model after only 4457 GTs were made, compared with 125,323 four-cylinder MGB GTs. This example came from the US and was converted here.
