Seller's Description
Extremely rare 1969 Toyopet Corona MK II, the only 4 door SL ( sports Luxury ) sedan known to exist in Australia, only a handfull of 4 door SL's left worldwide. The 1600SL featured a 1600cc OHC twin carb engine (7RB) ,4 speed transmission, disc brakes, sports streering wheel and full instrumentation. It was sold exclusively at 'Toyopet' store locations in Japan, seperate to the general Toyota dealers, hence the Toyopet badging. This particular car was imported by a Toyota enthusiast and mechanic around 10 years ago, I am the second owner in Australia, it has travelled less than 2000km since arriving in OZ. The car is in excellent condition, rust free with very good paint, only very minor blemishes, interior is excelent, seats are supple with no tears, boot, door jams and sills are pristine.Working clock, radio and electric aerial. Speedo indicates 48,900KM ( Japanese speedos are in kilometers ) but actual milage is unknown. The engine is quiet and revs smoothely, fine tuning due to lack of use may be needed, it does not blow any smoke or drop any oil, does not overheat. Brakes work fine. Brand new exhaust and electronic ignition added. Faults: Right hand rear door catch is stiff, so the door is hard to close and for some reason the left rear door is missing it's window winder mechanisim, will include parts sourced from a 1969 RT40 corona. Front doors and window operation is perfect. Air con needs regassing. Currently on N.S.W historic rego so will be sold unregistered. Included are the original wheels and hubcaps, original sales brochure and custom Toyopet push scooter.
