I have known this car for over 35 years and always had ambitions of owning it. The history of this original, non molested rare piece of Holden history was delivered in the special order colour for the South Australian Highways Department.
It was used for approximately 12 months then sold to a family friend. It was used sparingly as a family car for a few years as a car not a Ute and always garaged and serviced regularly. The family were great custodians of all the cars they owned.
It was loved and taken care of. It has covered a mere 83800 miles! When one family member died it was put into dry storage for about 25 years.
I was able to purchase the Ute about 3 years ago and recommissioned the vehicle with a full service, new radiator core, water pump, hoses, and thermostat, new battery. I have hardly driven the vehicle, a couple of nights ago I took the Ute on a 100 klm drive and it performed flawlessly. I then did the same a few nights later. The car has a heater and arm rests which were an option.
The motor is very good, quiet, no smoke and no oil leaks. The gearbox is also quiet and changes gear with ease. The paint is brilliant as it has been maintained & polished and covered whilst stored. The interior is like new and the miles are genuine. The chrome is also original and very good. 4 original keys with the knock outs still in place. There is NO rust ever. Engine bay is totally original with no painting done.
This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of Australia's motor manufacturing history. The tyres are Michelin tyres on the Ute and are not worn but old. There is a small dent the size of a 20c piece in the roof corner, and a few chips and scratches around the tray area all minimal considering the car is 45 years old.
