The sale of the Tara 603 II was extremely exclusive at the time of production in 1973. These were built in communist Czechoslovakia and only allocated to senior members of the political and industrial establishments. They were exported to allied countries being China and Cuba and it was known that the Cuban leader Fidel Castro owned a white one. A total of 3 production versions of the model were made.
The body work is in excellent condition, the paint is a gloss black with only minor age-related blemishes in the coating. The inside cabin is trimmed with a combination of black and red velour cloth that is also in great condition. The odometer indicates 38,000KM and this 603 II has been well cared for by all owners evidently.
The series two had a wider rear track, an improved engine, updated dashboard and disc brakes all round. The engines were a rear mounted air-cooled 2.5L V8 overhead valve hemi engine and the gearbox was a 4-speed synchronized manual. The suspension was fixed axles in the rear and MacPherson suspension in the front.
