Seller's Description
1978 ZH Fairlane 500 This car has been in my family since 1989. This is the perfect drive-line combination of the 351 Cleveland engine, FMX auto and 9" disc brake differential, all of which are the correct numbers matching components that were fitted at the factory. First restored by my father in 1996 with a full external re-paint and removal of the original vinyl roof which was painted white. Interior work completed in 1997 which included bench seat, re-trim, carpets, and GXL dash conversion. Roof repairs and repaint carried out in 2002. Full engine rebuild in 2003. Mild camshaft (unknown but apparently "GT" spec), Pacemaker 4 into 1 headers, Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, and 4 barrel Holley carburetor. I have had the car since 2014 and have carried out the following work: Full front end suspension rebuild, all bushes replaced with Nolathane, new ball joints. UPC front brake upgrade. Rear brake calipers serviced and rebuilt. Electric thermo fans (from EL Falcon), and larger transmission cooler. New front shock absorbers fitted 2019. Simmons 15x8" wheels, refurbished and fitted. This is a fantastic cruising car, it sounds great on the road and has enough space for all of your mates (or the family). The clear coat on the bonnet and boot are starting to look a bit tired, and there are a number of small dents, scrapes and scratches across most of the rest on the car, as can be seen on the photos, but it still presents as a pretty tidy package. Current on a non-transferable club permit, and gets driven on a semi-regular basis. It starts first time and is still a super reliable cruiser for the family and I. Unfortunately the time has come to pass this along to another home as life is taking us in another direction. I have plenty more photos available if you need them.
