With the VP Commodore new in 1992, HSV introduced the now legendary GTS model into their range. The VP GTS came standard with the 200kW 5 litre black engine as used in VL and VN Group A Commodores and featured flat-top pistons, Crane roller rockers, bigger valves, larger diameter lifter bores, recalibrated engine management system, black rocker cover tops and various other Group A derived features including a 4-bolt mains engine block and cylinder heads incorporating roller rockers and extractors fitted standard. The VP GTS also featured HSV's premium brake package and an LSD. Now For sale is this 1992 HSV VP GTS Build No. 30 of 130 built, 1 of only 7 imported into NZ and believed to be one of only 2 fully optioned VP GTSs built by HSV. The original New Zealand owner of this special GTS ticked every option box with the original sticker price ending up at NZ$102,000. Optioned with HSV Premium sound system, Auto levelling rear suspension, Ultrasonic alarm (additional to standard security ), factory towing package, HSV sliding tilting sunroof, full Devenish leather interior, roof console, HSV fitted mats, air horns and K & N High performance air filter. The current long term and mechanic owner purchased the car in 1995 with 48,000 kms on the clock. The car has now travelled a total of 120,000 kms and has been garaged all of its life and is still very close to its factory spec. The car has been serviced every 10,000 kms from new or annually. In addition certified repair shops have change the diff oil, replaced the power steering rack seals, sump rope seals replaced (leaking), crank journals had marks on them so crank polished and bearings replaced, replaced the power steering pump, the rear control arm bushes, brake fluid and rear exhaust mounting. The car has always passed its 6 monthly Warrant of Fitness checks.It has adjustable camber plates fitted (which have been certified) approximately 20 years ago. The level ride shocks are not fitted and have been replaced by Bilsteins in the rear and Koni adjustables on the front. (The owner still has the level ride shocks and the system is still fitted in the car.)The car comes with all HSV documents including the original log books and the Dealer folder signed by Peter Brock in 1997 when he visited NZ on behalf of Holden. The air intake box in the engine bay has also been signed by Peter Brock. The car also comes with a highly collectable HSV jacket (large) that was produced by HSV for the VP GTS and given to all the original owners. Also included is the Larry Perkins Engineering V8 Supercar wing as used in the 1992 and 1993 seasons. This wing and deck are not currently fitted to the car but will be supplied with the car on sale.
