This HSV is one of the rarest Holdens ever built with only 130 built. Rarer still is the ones that have survived, the numbers will continue to diminish for some time to come. Production began September 1992 and was discontinued in December 1992. This HSV build was limited to 130 Vehicles. The company modifies the standard wheelbase Commodores, long wheelbase Caprice and commercial Utes models powered by either Holden or GM V8 engines for domestic and export markets in very low volumes. Top speed 236km/h The HSV GTS is a high performance luxury sedan and is an Australian icon, introduced as part of the VP Commodore series in Sept 1992, as a revival of the GTS nameplate worn by the Monaro muscle cars of the sixties and seventies. This is better to drive than any Monaro, uses less fuel, and fortunately most parts are still available. The GTS comes with a recalibrated 4 speed Automatic Transmission and is a large rear drive vehicle powered by a 200kW famous "Black Engine." A 5.0L V8 petrol engine, and was the first and last GTS to feature a 5.0L using the same 4 bolt main engine block as the VL and VN Commodore Group A. It has a cast iron pushrod engine with flat top pistons with “D” port heads, crane roller rockers with larger valves and bigger lifter bores and a revised camshaft. Special throttle body, knock sensor, special extractors and recalibrated engine management. It has a limited slip differential, it was the first Holden to feature IRS rear suspension, with a 3.27 ratio differential in its independent rear suspension. With Mac Pherson strut front suspension and IRS with semi trailing arms and Holden VN Group A's ABS brakes. The GTS comes with a body kit, with Senator's grille, rear spoiler and 5 spoke alloy wheels. It has unique GTS wheel arch mouldings. Inside is a leather Momo steering wheel, HSV Langton sports seats built on SS frame, exclusive GTS trim with embroidered door trims, cruise control, climate control air conditioning, a trip computer, power windows and door mirrors, central locking and a security system.
