This Subaru Impreza WRX STI Coupe Version 5 Type R is an impressive and very original example of the highly sought-after Japanese import.
Under the bonnet is the 2.0-litre turbocharged EJ20 flat-four, producing around 206kW, which drives all four wheels via a close-ratio five-speed manual transmission.
This example is completly stock standard and original with no aftermarket modifications.
Prior to purchase in Japan we had the car checked by a Japanese Subaru Dealer before it was imported. It is reported to have passed all checks with flying colours, with no rust, leaks or mechanical defects found.
The odometer shows 70,638 Km, which was checked and authorised by a third party in Japan as the genuine mileage. The seller states that the car is in excellent low-mileage condition. The odometer reading is supported by the deregistration papers and the documented service history.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
The Subaru Impreza WRX STI Coupe Version 5 Type R factory features include revised 4.44:1 gearing, R180 rear differential, faster steering, an active centre differential (DCCD) and two-piston rear brakes.
This example is finished in white, over a grey and black cloth-trimmed interior, with STI-branded reclining bucket seats which feature red accents and red and blue contrast stitching.
It rides on the correct 16-inch five-spoke alloy wheels finished in gold, housing red callipers and fitted with Yokohama tyres.
Equipment includes a leather-trimmed Momo airbag steering wheel, electric windows, air conditioning, heated rear screen, electric door mirrors, intercooler water spray controls, fog lights, and rear wiper.
Hard drive stereo with a Red Hot Chilli Peppers Album from the original Japanese owner.
The DCCD functions as it should, enabling driver control of the all-wheel-drive system.
The car is in excellent condition, evidenced by the checks they had carried out prior to import, and that it would be a fine addition to any collection as a notable piece of JDM history.
