THE STORY Produced between 2004 and 2011, the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti was an executive 2+2 coupe grand tourer designed to replace the smaller Ferrari 456. The design of the large side scallops and the headlights pay homage to the Ferrari 375 MM built in 1954 – a car commissioned by director Roberto Rossellini for his wife, Ingrid Bergman. The chassis of the 612 is made entirely from aluminium, consisting of a space frame with an aluminium body welded on. Two choices of transmission were available for the 612, a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automated manual paddle shift. In 2007 Ferrari announced new features for the 612 - the ‘SuperFast’ robotic (F1) gearbox and a new electro-chromatic glass roof that could tint and lighten at the push of a button. In 2008 Ferrari unveiled the One-to-One (OTO) personalization program and from then, the Ferrari 612 was only available through this special-order process. The OTO program allowed clients to hand-pick a wide variety of options for their vehicle, from leather swatches to brake calipers, and everything in between.
