ADVERTORIAL – Mal Wood hydraulic underdash assembly
Here in Australia, Mal Wood Automotive is best known for their innovations in the area of transmissions, clutches and driveline components to suit performance street and track applications. But the Queensland-based company innovates in other areas, too. That innovation was recently recognised at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) automotive aftermarket industry trade show in Las Vegas.

With the annual SEMA show attracting more than 2,400 exhibitors (representing 6,383 member companies worldwide in OEM and aftermarket equipment, plus distributors, installers, restorers and more), it can be difficult to stand out, but that’s exactly what Mal Wood’s American subsidiary, MalWood USA, did.

Mal and three of the local team were in Las Vegas last November to witness MalWood USA pick up SEMA’s ‘Best New Street Rod or Custom Car Product 2025’ award for the Hydraulic Underdash pedal assembly that was developed right here in Australia. The award recognises outstanding and innovative design achievement in a product primarily for 1958 and earlier street rods and custom cars.
Since its inception more than 20 years ago, the Mal Wood Hydraulic Underdash has been an extremely popular product for restorers and modifiers of older vehicles, both locally and in the USA. During this time, the design has been constantly improved, with more concepts developed to expand the Mal Wood range.
For Mal and the Aussie team, the award win was the cherry on top of their trip to SEMA that proved to be extremely beneficial and provided a great opportunity to speak to manufacturers and suppliers within the industry.
