Themes announced for 2023 Historic Winton
Details have been released for this year’s Historic Winton, with the 46th edition of the all-historic motorsport and motoring event to be held at Winton Motor Raceway on 27–28 May.
Presented by the Austin 7 Club Inc., in association with Historic Motorcycle Racing Association of Victoria (HMRAV), the 46th Historic Winton will feature two days of historic motorsport action across a range of classes.
More than 40 races over the weekend include Group J & K, Groups M & O, Groups Q & R Sports and Racing, Group Lb Sports and Racing, Formula Ford, Group N, Group S and Regularity, along with historic motorcycle and sidecar races.
“We are thrilled to be back again with another weekend of fun for all the family,” said Austin 7 Club Inc, President Len Kerwood. “This historic race meet has been around for so long now that we are seeing third and fourth generations competing and attending, as well as quite a lot of first-timers.”
Off-track, the popular heritage displays will mark a number of automotive anniversaries this year, including 120 years of the Ford Motor Company, Buick and Harley-Davidson, 100 years of MG, Triumph cars and BMW motorcycles, 75 years of Land Rover, the Citroen 2CV, Morris Minor and Porsche 356, 70 years of the MG Magnette, Triumph TR2 and Sunbeam Alpine, and 60 years of the Chevrolet Corvette.
On the Aussie anniversaries, 2023 marks 70 years of the FJ Holden and first Redex Trial, 60 years of the EH Holden and Lightburn Zeta and 50 years of the Leyland P76.
Owners of vehicles covering all the marque, model and event anniversaries being celebrated this year are invited to bring their vehicle to Winton for display in the paddock, with the chance to take part in the Sunday Parade on the circuit.
Participation in the Sunday Parade is by invitation only, with invites placed on the windscreens of selected vehicles on the Sunday morning of the event, so get there early for your chance to do a lap or two of Winton Motor Raceway.
Parade participants are selected based on criteria that includes the number of vehicles in the specific anniversary group, rarity and presentation.
