Elfin Clubman pair to be auctioned
The 2012 Custom and Collectable Auction', to be held on July 22, is no exception, with a pair of Elfin MS8 Clubmans joining the classic Aussie and US muscle cars to go under the hammer.
The more striking of the pair is the 2007 model, finished in the iconic orange & pale blue 'Gulf' livery. What's more striking is what's under the bonnet - a GM LS1 5.7 litre V8 that has been tuned to deliver a claimed 375kW. As you can imagine, this potent powerplant, combined with the MS8's six-speed manual transmission and lightweight fibreglass body makes for a seriously powerful car!
The subject of $20,000 worth of engine modifications, this Elfin has also been treated to a rebuilt gearbox, adjustable diff, 3-piece wheels, AP Racing brakes, sway bar and rose jointed suspension throughout. The interior, what little of it there is in this stripped Clubman, has been trimmed in black leather.
Originally advertised for $135,000, this NSW-registered MS8 is expected to make $65,000 - $75,000 at this auction.
The second MS8 is notable in that its construction predates the takeover of Elfin by Walkinshaw. That means it features fully-adjustable rose-jointed suspension, sway bars, braided lines and billet alloy brake calipers. Running the same LS1 V8 and 6-speed manual as its sister car, albeit unmodified (which means 'only' 245kW), this MS8 is finished in silver and black, with the cockpit trimmed in black leather.
Described as being in 'as new' condition, the guiding range set by Shannons for this MS8 Clubman is $46,000 - $56,000.
Aside from the Elfins, other consignments of interest include: SL/R 5000, SS, and A9X Toranas; an HK GTS 327 Monaro; and 1976 Monaro HX 'LE' coupe. American muscle is made of a 1970 Ford Torino, 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass (with Chip Foose paint job), 1966 Ford Mustang GT350 replica, 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS tribute, 1969 Camaro restomod, and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. If you're after more modern European muscle, a 1978 Porsche 930 turbo has also been consigned for this auction.
Staged over the weekend of July 21-22 at Sydney's Olympic Park, Meguiar's MotorEx is the largest and most prestigious motoring enthusiast event of its kind in Australia, featuring hundreds of custom, performance and collectable vehicles from all over the country.
All vehicles in the Shannons auction scheduled for July 22 will be on display throughout the weekend, with the auction starting at 3pm on the Sunday.
