Holden 60th Anniversary Display Day
The gathering of sedans, utilities, panel vans and station sedans, from the original 48-215 'FX' to the 1977 HZ, both stock and modified, presented an impressive sight.
The fact that prizes for the six categories of entrant were awarded entirely by people's choice created much interest, too, as did a giant raffle, in which prizes included TRAX and Carlectable Classics model cars, and framed prints of various Holden models.
To the delight of the crowd, the National Motor Museum had arranged with GM Holden Ltd for both the Hurricane and Efijy concept/show cars to be on display in the Museum. It is not often that these two spectacular GM Holden show cars are seen together!
Rarities and special interest vehicles amongst the cars on show included a restored - and very rare - ex-PMG FJ panel van, Colin Townsend's widened and modified FJ Special, an unrestored 50-2106 utility and very tidy HK Brougham that was one of eight people's choice trophy winners on the day.
