Mercedes-Benz classics on sale
The star attraction of the group was an attractive original right hand drive 1967 250SE coupe finished in the classic Double Bay decor of white with tan leather. Another sought after Mercedes-Benz coupe selling unreserved was a smart, silver with blue leather interior 1974 450SLC fitted with a factory sunroof and air conditioning.
The third model a 1984 Mercedes-Benz 280CE coupe. Finished in white with a blue interior and factory fitted with air conditioning, sunroof, air conditioning, power windows and cruise control, the added attraction of the 280CE is that it is was one of only 1,476 examples built in 1984, giving it added rarity value.
Finally, for those in search of a star bargain, Shannons had a 1977 long wheelbase Mercedes-Benz 350 SEL finished in silver with bone leather trim. Fitted with a 3.5 litre V8 engine, a principal attraction of this 350 SEL was that it had been converted to dual fuel, and also runs on LP Gas, offering a unique blend of luxury and prestige with practicality. The 'Benz had in recent years been used for formal occasions such as weddings and funerals, but will make an excellent and eye-catching daily driver.
Also on offer was a rare 1993 V12-engined SL600 convertible with removable hardtop. Built in June 1993 and delivered new by Lanes Motors of Melbourne, this original right hand drive car is finished in silver with a dark blue leather interior and is in beautiful condition, having covered just 130,000km. Powered by a 294kW V12 engine and fitted with adaptive suspension and the optional five-spoke AMG alloy wheels amongst its many features, Shannons expected the SL600 to sell in the $25,000-$35,000 range - a fraction of its new price of around $350,000.
