Produced for 14 months between 1965 and 1966 the all new design Holden HD replaced the successful EH and would see over 178,000 produced across this short period. The HD was offered in three trim levels with four body styles, and also introduced a new performance package called the X2. The 100hp 2.4-litre inline six was standard across all models except the Premier, which came with the optional 115hp 2.9-litre inline six. The X2 Package brought the 2.9-litre up to 140hp and featured twin carbs, high lift cam, new exhaust and inlet manifolds with a low restriction exhaust. Manual gearboxes were a standard feature but an optional 2-speed powerglide automatic transmission could be added.
This running and complete example of a HD Premier is about one of the rarer, and best combinations you may come across in this day and age. This HD was the top of the range Premier trim level, finished in a rare two tone combination of Egmont Maroon Metallic and Fowlers Ivory, and was also optioned with a 2-speed powerglide transmission, and the rare and highly desirable X2 performance package. This example has been sitting since 1994, inland in west NSW, meaning this solid example has avoided major rust over the whole car, with most of the rust found being located in low lying areas such as the bottom of the doors. The car starts, runs and engages gears but the brakes do not function and has not been tested further. The cream interior is in surprisingly good condition for its age and this car is certain to impress. An original owners manual is included but no log books or service history is present. The odometer indicates 47,327 Miles traveled, and the tyres have been replaced recently. This is a very rare example of a sought after car, and would take little restoration to bring it back to life.
