Seller's Description
1939 MG WA TICKFORD DROPHEAD COUPE SN:3490 VIN:WA0562 ENG:QPJG819 BODY:NO5005 $75,000 (To be sold Unregistered) MG’S FINAL FLOURISH IN PRE-WAR LUXURY Unveiled in 1938 at the London Motor Show, the WA was MG’s Largest, and most luxurious car to date. Powered by their 2561cc Inline 6 Cylinder providing 95.5BHP, mated to a partly synchro (2nd, 3rd & 4th) 4 speed gearbox the WA was capable of 85mph, perfectly suited to luxurious high speed cruising. Over an 11 month production period, ended by the declaration of World War II in 1939, only 358 WA’s rolled off the production line, with the Tickford Drophead Coupe only accounting for 52 examples. With just a claimed 22 Tickford WA’s surviving this stalled restoration would be well and truly justified to complete. A well known example in Australia this Drophead Coupe was a regular at many MG car club events until it was taken off the road, to undertake a nut and bolt restoration. Reluctantly offered for sale, partially restored, and supplied with all known components removed during the restoration process, this WA is looking for a new custodian to bring it back to its former glory. With MG SA Tickfords currently asking £80,000+ and a production run of 696 examples, the more luxurious, rarer, and more powerful sibling, the WA is sure to be a valuable Pre-War classic when completed Priced unregistered, in partially restored condition.
