Powered by the dependable 3.5L (216ci) ``Stovebolt`` inline-six engine, they featured durable chassis construction, heavy-duty suspension and simplified bodywork to streamline production and enhance battlefield resilience. Many were adapted for off-road use, equipped with four-wheel drive and larger tires for improved mobility in harsh conditions. THE CAR Beginning its life as a genuine 1942 Chevrolet truck believed to have been built by Holden to support the Allies in the war effort, this astonishing and awe-inspiring hot rod conversion has to be seen to be believed. Undergoing a full and extremely detailed rebuild in the early 2000s, this 1942 Chevrolet Hot Rod is finished in eye-catching Blue with a complimenting Red leather trim. The vehicle features a 1942 Chevrolet Truck cabin with the original dash - fitted with all the rare chrome trims - and sports a 1948 Chevrolet Top Hat chassis. The body is comprised entirely of steel (no fiberglass). The engine is a 1955 Chevrolet ‘Blue Flame’ 3.7L (225ci) straight-six, and the cams have been re-ground and fitted with twin Stromberg carburettors. She has also been fitted with a race performance Felton manifold and ceramic-coated headers from the US. All this mated to a 4-speed manual transmission featuring a rare Saginaw Hurst shifter and complimented by the inclusion of a HQ Holden rear-axle assembly with drum brakes. There’s also a Holden steering rack and pinion assembly with steering column, a Salisbury differential, independent Jaguar suspension and a K&K front crossmember incorporating Jaguar front disc brakes and calipers. The oil and coolant have been recently changed, and the power brakes are fed with silicone brake fluid. The car has a custom-built tray featuring 120-year-old timber sourced from a school classroom’s front doors and Winchester shotgun shells feature as accents throughout the vehicle. Within the tray, there are secret compartments including the fuel tank and additional storage space. An immense amount of detail has gone into the restoration of this beautiful vehicle. The 1954 Chevrolet steel wheels are fitted with radial tyres that look like bias-ply units. The car is adorned with Wayne dress-up parts, and the engine showcases the display of two Spartan helmets, situated in front of a head-turning blue and white chequered firewall. The shifter knob is styled as a vintage musket grip, and a red FE Holden steering wheel matches the design of the red leather interior. Additional features include two ELR dual-lock lap seatbelts, an isolator for the battery and a bolt-on tow ball with related electrics. This hot rod was originally registered in Queensland and is currently registered in SA.
