Seller's Description
Before WWII, saloon cars built by the SS Car Company were refered to as "SS Jaguar" cars. There were SS Jaguar 1 1/2, 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 depending upon the engine size. After the war, the "SS" was dropped and the cars were designated as Jaguar 1 1/2, Jaguar 2 1/2 and Jaguar 3 1/2. These post war models later became known as 'MkIV' Jaguars. Only 3,162 SS and MkIV cars were produced with the highly desirable 3 1/2 litre engine. The car offered now is a near perfectly original, 1947 model, 3 1/2 litre MkIV. Just look at those headlights! This car was restored to JDC Victoria, concours winning condition in 1989. Since then it has been lovingly cared for and driven only for special occasions, club events and maintenance purposes. The interior patina looks and smells of classic, original SS Jaguar. The tool box is complete and in perfect condition. The external paintwork has some minor imperfections indicative of its age. Recently, the radiator core was replaced with a high efficiency modern core that has left the appearance unchanged, but adapted the cooling sytem to suit Australian conditions. This is a very fine example of this rare and highly desirable classic Jaguar.
