Seller's Description
1950 Buick put a brilliant host of creations on offer, with Buick performance, Buick comfort and Buicks eye-catching style within reach of practically any budget… This particular model is the 1950 Buick Special Jetback Sedan and is a one year only model and known for it’s distinctive waterfall grill that rolled over the outside of the front bumper giving what was then a deluxe and elegant finish but in todays age, just add air bags and lay one of these cars out and it’s more menacing that prestigious! The rear end on this car also compliments and completes that look… while most sedans offered the tradition roof line these sedans were offered with a Jetback sloping roof that in todays day look like they have been chopped or modified but were made from new within the Buick factory. Now like all cars with good body lines they get rot rodded and modified and this car is no exception…. Back in the early 2000’s this car was restored and modified… The factory straight 6 and transmission was the first to go and was replaced with a fuel injected LT-1 engine, the transmission was upgraded to a 4 speed 4L60 Electronic automatic overdrive trans. Steering is now in the way of a 605 power steering gearbox and if you’ve ever had that upgrade you’d know it’s the best steering box you can build into any of your old GM cars… Four-wheel power disc brakes with corvette callipers upfront balance out the go and woah and a four linked posi-traction rear end upgrade the rear. Automatic release emergency brake, airbag suspension, stainless steel fuel tank, intro rims in 18x8 front with 20x8’s on the back. Inside it’s been fully customised but back in the earlier 2000’s and it’s a little dated but in good condition… The dash has been smoothed with a leather valance, Dakota digital speedometer & gauges talk to the new driveline and it has a telescoping & tilt steering column with a Budnik steering wheel. It was rewired with a painless wiring kit and has a Sony cd player with 10 disc remote and alpine MRV-F352 amp & 10” subwoofer, dove grey leather interior, three point seatbelts, electric operated trunk ltd, electric tinted windows, air conditioning with vent to rear in centre arm rest and power seats. So this is the last car from the Lost In The 50’s Museum, every one of the 120 cars at the auction sold including this one… this car had the hammer drop at 75k plus buyer’s premium ending with an online bid that never paid up… Legal fee’s out weighed the effort and this is the only car that went back into Glen Jennings small personal collection that he kept… a year later and it’s time for it to get it’s new home. Note: This has been a museum car, done little for the last 10 years with only a couple of drives in it’s first few years of ownership when it was on NSW club rego, really done little other than started up and driven to move around the museum in the last 5 years.
