Seller's Description
BID HERE >>> https://www.classiccarsaust.com/catalogue-group.aspx?chid=20507&BID= 1952 Australian made Chevrolet coupe utility, Rare & original (Only 3 still registered in Australia as at 6 months ago) 216 Stovebolt 6cyl engine, 3 speed manual. Original 13,800miles, WA licensed. Semi restored original Condition Brake cylinders have been re-honed with new kits & new tyres fitted. When I received the 1952 Chevrolet coupe ute, I was told it had been sitting in a museum most of its life, it was unlicensed and needed some TLC. Getting it registered was easier than I thought as the condition of it was pretty much what you would expect for a car that had only done 13,400 miles & everything was still 100% original from manufacture. I was told my Chevy was one of only three in Australia still on the road (when registered 6 months ago) and the only 1952 Chevy coupe ute registered in Western Australia. I drive it around Geraldton with no issues, only having done about 400 miles since being registered. It will be sold with current Full WA Rego. From 1949 some Australian built Chevrolets were assembled from components imported from Chevrolet in Canada & then exported to numerous countries. There were originally 8,000 Chevy coupe utes assembled in Australia by Holden using imported chassis and drive line from Canada and the front clip off the Chevrolet sedan. The cab and ute body were made in Australia by Holden, most were exported and local production of the Coupe Utility body continued until 1952. Chevrolet assembly in Australia ended in 1968. HOLDEN HISTORY:- Holden's Motor Body Builders began as a leather supplier in 1856 in Adelaide and built its first body in 1914, the year General Motors Export Co. opened an Australian office. By 1923, Holden's had exclusive Australian rights to assemble GM cars but continued to provide bodies for other cars. GM bought Holden's in 1931 to form General Motors-Holden's Ltd., which built its first coupe utility on a 1935 Chevrolet passenger-car chassis. General Motors-Holden's eventually moved the ute to its Holden line, with the last Chevrolet ute being assembled in 1952.
