Seller's Description
Our much loved Morris LC3 farm truck has been a fantastically useful and fun part of our farm family but it s time for her to find a new home. The Morris was fully restored in Brisbane twenty years ago for a trip around Australia, but before the then owners could leave the house alongside them burnt down, and the new paint on the Morris was blistered. They repainted it by hand and drove to Braidwood instead, where it has served another farm and then us extremely well since then. It is in good overall condition and is used regularly on Club runs and as our working farm truck on the property and for picnics. The original four cylinder Morris engine was professionally rebuilt 18 months ago by specialists in Queanbeyan NSW at a cost of over $5,000. They upgraded the big ends with replaceable slipper bearings and all ancillaries were checked and reconditioned or replaced. The truck consequently runs very well, everything works including the lights, wipers and horn, the coachwork is good and there is no rust of any consequence. The radiator and water pump are in good order and the truck never boils despite our sometimes hot climate. The paintwork is old and hand brushed and in poor condition. It does tidy up well enough but is too far deteriorated to save and in any case the cab will be easy to repaint, which will transform the truck. The interior was refurbished before our ownership, in green and black vinyl to a good standard though not especially authentic. The rear wooden deck is in good condition as are the three folding sides. The tyres are old but not bad and quite acceptable for Club use. There is a spare, and also a wheel brace for the big left and right handed wheel nuts. It s on Club rego so not transferable and it would not pass a full roadworthy without general attention though was fully registered until about five years ago. The brakes have recently started to stick and in fact I have recently let them off to prevent them binding. This suits me as I mainly use it in the field but plainly you will need to attend to this - I think a general overall of the brake cylinders will correct it or quite probably just a good clean and bleed. They worked fine until mid year and then began to stick a bit. The drivers side window has been cracked recently from someone closing it too vigorously. I have replaced this before, O'Briens Glass cut one for me for about $80 and it is a ten minute job to install it, so no big deal. The window channels need adjusting on that side to prevent it doing this again. I had wanted to paint her up and use for marketing as it s a lovely, characterful old truck, just like Greengrass's truck on the English tv show Heartbeat (his is an LC4) but have too many projects at present. Will make a stunning restored commercial vehicle and is much too good to try to hot-rod. It will be completely transformed by a repaint. Sold as-is where-is, please call me on 0438 126 987 with any questions. The truck is at Braidwood 50 minutes from Canberra, Goulburn or Bateman s Bay. We will accept payment by Bank Deposit, or telephone for Mastercard or VISA. I can confidently say that our truck will give you lots of fun and few problems. I am happy to receive offers close to the asking price.
