A very reluctant sale. After 48 years it’s time to say goodbye to the “A”. My sons now live in different overseas countries and my hope that they could eventually keep the car in the family has faded. It’s also time to down size. In my younger days the “A” was a daily driver. In later years it has been on blocks pending my retirement when my goal was to repay the car for many years of enjoyment by returning it to as original condition as possible. This I have achieved. The “A” would now sit proudly at any concours event. Every care has been taken to return the car to what many say is better than new condition. To relay the investigation efforts and work that has painstakingly gone in to completing the car would take a book in itself. Clearly this 1958 1500 Roadster is in excellent condition having done only token miles since the complete body off restoration. Every effort was made to ensure the features of this Australian Zetland car were retained from the carpet, vinyl seat colour and pattern, spare tyre cover as original, soft top colour, vinyl side curtains and so on. The rare body colour, Billeroy “Lightning” Blue, is only found in Australia. Some upgrades were made during the restoration. All are hidden such as the brake booster, electronic ignition, silicon brake fluid, front stabilizer bar and so on. The bodywork and paintwork have been professionally done. The “A” comes with its original handbook and factory manual, some original advertising even an early insurance policy. I have most of its history from a new car sold by Winterbottom Motors in Perth. Many of the original tools in their hessian tool roll are a real find in themselves. The car will be sold with all the original parts replaced during restoration and over many years.
