The family have been collecting Holden FB-EK's since 1985. I am sure you are aware, finding clean FB Holden's are much rarer than clean EK sedans. This is the most original and the best preserved FB special Sedan we have come across in years and years, I would also say the prettiest! Banff Blue is one of the First Acrylic Magic Mirror colours to be added to the Post June 1960 Holden's colour chart.
This FB (Being in the transition of paint) still has most of the Yellow warning sticker, to service and repair stations, to not add Nitro / Duco finish to the new Magic Mirror paint if touching up. The FB was purchased new by Alwyn Manning of Wellington NSW (himself a car dealer) didn't take the car in the rain, and rode to work on his pushbike on rainy days. When Alwyn passed on in the '70's, the FB sat in the shed under cloth, until the last owner came along and treated the Holden FB with the same respect.
The FB continued to be "cotton wooled" and stored dry, the same is to be said in the care of my son Wayne. The paint is factory 1960 Holden, and is in fabulous shape, with the exception of a few small chips and touch-ups. There is something about old factory paint that today's finishes just can't replicate!
The trim still offers that factory new smell and the original Dragoon Blue and Jockey Blue fleck trim is still in outstanding condition. The intricate original fleck pattern material in this FB, hasn't been correctly replicated yet, with most FB Holden today having other seat inserts added. The engine is still extremely strong with a smooth quite tingle. The gear change is equally smooth as too the ride. The experience is what one may have felt when Alwyn drove the FB in the '60's on those Sun filled days.
This FB is currently looking for and equally caring home to help preserve this incredible survivor of Australian Motoring history. Which with this particular model when factory original appears to be disappearing faster and faster, due to weathered projects and modifying, hobby restorations, plus the value in parting these old Holden out.
