ADVERTORIAL - Classics 1968 Ford Mustang Eleanor
It’s not often that a cover is better than the original, but it’s certainly the case with ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’. The 2000 remake of the original movie from 1974 was not only a popular action flick, it also resulted in one of the most popular – and reproduced - movie cars of all time. Thanks to Classics, you can win one of these reproductions.
It’s because of Gone in 60 Seconds that pretty much everyone knows what an ‘Eleanor’ Mustang is these days. The Pepper Grey 1967 Shelby GT500 with the female code name was the final, fateful target for the movie’s group of car thieves led by Randall ‘Memphis’ Raines (Nicolas Cage).
Eleanor Mustangs used in the movie have sold for as much as US$1 million at auction, with demand also resulting in a small industry building reproductions and offering kits for DIYers. Several reproduction Eleanors can be found here in Australia and one outstanding latest giveaway in the Classics Retro Rewards membership program.

Eleanor Style
The Eleanor currently up for grabs through Classics Retro Rewards is the sixth they’ve offered, proving just how popular these cars are.
This example, based on a 1968 Mustang fastback, was built by Shelby American and is on the official Eleanor Registry (EWR #318), so it’s more special than most. More practical, too, as it’s RHD and has air conditioning and power steering.
Finished in the correct Pepper Grey with black GT stripes, this car has the signature Eleanor body kit, auxiliary headlights and other parts.
Inside, there’s leather sports seats, a woodrim steering wheel, drilled Shelby pedals, Shelby black-face gauges and the ‘Go Baby Go’ nitrous button on the gear knob.
Under the bonnet, there’s a Roush Performance 302 Windsor crate engine with a ceramic-coated exhaust system, matched to a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission and 9-inch LSD.
The high-spec drivetrain and quality interior trim mean this car is valued at $305,000.
