The Rambler Six were medium sized family sedans built by American Motors Corporation between 1956- 1960. Considered one of the most compact cars of its era, their success was instant upon release. It was manufactured with three different trim options being ‘Deluxe, Super, Custom’ all released with the economy 6 or rebel V8 engines. The 1960 Rambler six became the best-selling model for AMC with 298,000 sold in that year alone
This Classic Six ‘Super’ Sedan was the last year model of the classic six to be produced. The 1960 models all featured numerous exterior and interior design changes to include a narrower roof profile – for a more aesthetic appearance. Its overall length was trimmed by 1.6 Inches due to a simplified front end re-design that featured new headlights.
Featuring a 3.2L 6-cylinder engine paired with a 3-speed ‘Flash-o-matic’ automatic transmission, this example proved both economical and powerful. Offering an impressive 95KW at the time, this sporty family sedan was the whole package to comfort and practicality.
Its exterior has undergone an older restoration to include a respray to a brighter blue that compliments its period correct white-wall tyred, chrome rims. Its original cloth interior showcases a pre-70’s design and shows minimal wear. The dials and instruments present immaculately and all function as new giving it that original feel.
Accompanying this example is the original Owner’s manual/service booklet as well as previous registration papers of the vehicle. An example like this is a true rarity being the last year model of the Classic Six sedan fitted with the ‘Super trim’ and would make a sound addition to any rambler collection.
