Seller's Description
This is my father’s 1962 SV1 “S” series Valiant and one of only 10009 units built. Dad is 89 this year and now finds is hard to polish and maintain. The car has 80000 original miles and was stored and maintained for many years prior to his ownership. The car is original and in genuinely beautiful condition and doesnt feel old if that makes sense. It runs and drives like a modern car with no squeaks or rattles, is tight on the road and smooth and comfortable in its operation. The braking system is circa 1962 technology of course. The chrome and trim is excellent, the glass is clear and the lights and bezels in good condition. The push button TorqueFlite automatic gearbox shifts firmly and well. The car has no oil leaks that I know of and is probably polished more than it is driven. Advertisements can sometimes overstate things but in this case the description is accurate. I was astonished with how it drives and how much attention it gets at 6am on a Sunday morning to take these photos. People actually stopped and gathered for a chat. Genuine original surviving examples of these or any classic car are just not easy to come by anymore. I have not found any signs of rust or bubbling to any part of the car and the doors, bonnet, boot and jambs are all clean and damage free. Interior is outstanding condition and even includes a NOS (new old stock) radio that has been serviced and operates better than modern units. Buttons are tight and firm and the radio has its original genuine bezel. If you know Chryslers you realize how rare and expensive these are. Another point to note is the genuine driver’s door mirror being another almost impossible part to find especially an unrestored original. Nice examples of any old car will always be collectible. Fortunately the R and S series were superbly made having been credited by Rolls Royce “as the only car to be built as well as their own, having over 3000 spot welds to the body alone”. Everything my father owns is well maintained and if you would like other details please let me know. Note: an aftermarket water temp gauge is fitted sympathetically under dash as the car only came with a light. Recent maintenance includes: • New Carpet fitted to Boot • Replaced bulbs in rear lights ( parking) • Full electrical system check • Serviced Car radio • Internal Radio Antenna • Detailed engine Bay with all genuine decals • Replacement Battery • Replacement pulley belt • Special Hub Cap removal tool • 6 Spark plugs, all fluids, radiator flush.
