The Chrysler Valiant SV1 is part of Australian motoring history. One of very few available for sale and one of less than a hand full in this condition. The 1962/1963 SV1 Chrysler Valiant was Australian assembled, essentially a US designed and manufactured Chrysler and at its time, the fastest production car on the road made in Australia, with an impressive 225 ci Slant 6, with the Torqueflite gearbox (used in many of Chrylser Valiants V8 models in later production). This unique automatic version using a push button gearing system was a feature found in Valiants in Australia very different to automatics found in Holden and Fords. Some 10,009 SV1 Valliant's were built prior to its replacement by the Chrysler AP5 Valiant in May 1963
This car has only 68617 original miles on the odometer with less the 10000 of the last miles done since its full ground up restoration. All mechanicals were reconditioned or replaced including motor, gearbox, differential, steering box, electrical including generator and starter motor, brake system including handbrake cable(new) and all new suspension and steering parts (including front and rear sway bars to improve the drive). The exhaust manifold and exhaust system were custom made in stainless steel due to the lack of original parts in the market, this was also the case with the petrol tank.
All of the interior was remade to original specs and all new rubbers were put in after a complete underbody, interior and external respray. All original engine decals and body badging were put back on with all chrome work and body stainless and anodising redone.
The car has custom made front kick panels installed with speakers, and a custom dash panel for CD/radio mounting (CD/radio new in box provided for installation by new owner if wanted). The car has security key locks (after market for extra security) and a bonnet lock which includes a duel key lock and engine kill switch. The car has original rims and hub caps on front with widened rims and original hub caps on rear.
I have owned the car for the past 23 years, and it was mainly used for shows since its rebuild. It has always been garaged since I have owned it. It has been part of me and my family but is time to let it move on to another motoring enthusiast. This car will be a great addition to avid motoring collectors, or a great starter for a new collector.
