The Rambler AMI (Australian Motor Industries) produced the fourth generation Ambassador in 1963. During this year, the Rambler 880 was released as a 4-door sedan. Sales were brisk with this model and the overall re design this vehicle proved to bill a success as the vehicle was awarded ‘Car of the Year’- Motor Trend Magazine.
Its 880 Badge held the release of the 327ci 5.4L V8 engine that offered 186KW. It was paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission, controlled by a steering column mounted lever providing the ultimate driving experience of comfort, speed and luxury.
This example presents in a two-tone paint setting, blue and white. Its chrome work and period correct wheels are highlight to its older exterior restoration. It also underwent light mechanical maintenance to include most suspension components as well as a vacuum windscreen wiper installation making it a pleasure to drive.
Its interior setting is a cloth grey fused with a red vinyl inlay and presents excellent for its age. Its black dash is fitted with chrome dials and handles – all to give it that original feel.
Accompanying this vehicle is old insurance documents, receipted maintenance, original owner’s manual and flat rate schedule booklet. The rambler 880 was a milestone for Rambler and one in this condition is a true rarity.
