Seller's Description
This 1963 Standard beetle was built for Appendix J racing by VW racing legend Greg Mackie during the 80's to replicate what was raced in the 1960's. Extensively modified 1200cc beetle motor using all new Genuine Volkswagen parts including a late dual gallery 40hp crankcase, late 40hp beetle crank and rods, Holbay lightweight pistons (80 mill) , extensively modified 40hp heads converted to dual port with much larger inlet and exhaust valves, Autocraft rocker gear and 40IDF webers. The motor is a work of art and just to find someone today to build and modify a 1200 motor to this standard would be very difficult. Brakes and suspension have been modified to suit and cooling fins have been added to the front brake drums to prevent overheating and pulsations. I bought this car back in the early 90's and it has been sitting in a shed for most of that time. Now it's time to let it go and it will need some TLC to bring it back to its former glory. The car comes with CAMS logbooks. Contact Andrew.
