Seller's Description
-Australian Delivered
-Original condition
-MKII release of the 1800
-Highly collectible
-Low mileage example
This example is largely original and presents in excellent condition for its age. The interior presents beautifully in a white cream, with period-correct re-upholstered vinyl seats and its original wooden-accented dash and switch gear, both in faultless condition.
The original paint is still on the car and while it has a few blemishes, it is a tell-tale sign that this car has been well maintained. The factory spare wheel remains with the vehicle, as well as the Venetian blind for the rear window.
This car is the MK II version which was the last of the series and comes equipped with an 1800cc engine paired to a 3-speed automatic transmission. The car is a pleasure to drive and the gear changes feel smooth and precise.
Having travelled only 68,950 miles since new and in such original condition, this example would be a compliment to any collection.
The 1800 was developed by BMC as the follow-up to the successful Mini and Austin 1100. It was introduced in Australia in November 1965, with the Mark II version being introduced in 1968 and were a safe, reliable car with great handling qualities.
Initially these cars were developed to compete with their British contemporaries, however the local production was quickly modified to suit the harsher roads and climate of Australia, including raised suspension height, the provision of a sump guard and better sealing against dust.
