This South African delivered Series 4 Coupe is an older restoration. Appearance wise, the car looks largely original, but there have been some enhancements with the build. Firstly, the car looks striking in its coat of metallic blue paint (BMW Avus Blue). The paintwork is good and the body straight. As it is an older restoration, there are a few minor marks in the paint. There is a small section of rust at the base of the rear window which is the worst of it. The floors and sills are rock solid with no evidence of rust or repairs at all. The car sports a period front and rear spoiler and is running on period 13" alloys. The windows have a slightly darker tint, and the rear windows wind down completely. This completes the 1970's sporty look. The spare wheel is a matching alloy, and the tyres are pretty good Kumho's all round. The interior has been restored in black leather on the seats and door cards. New charcoal carpets have been fitted as well as a new heading and the dash has been recovered. The original Sanyo radio unit is in the dash, and all switches and electrics work. Mechanically, the 12A has been replaced with a 13B Bridgeport motor, running on a Weber 48IDA carburettor. The motor has recently been serviced and runs strong with no evidence of leaks or smoke. A custom big bore exhaust completes the performance package, and we have toned down the original 8" Cannon pipe out the back to a more respectable and less noisy new unit. She is running her original 4 speed manual box, and this shifts well with no grating or noises. The car drives really well and the power and noise are addictive. This is a pretty unique car in Australia as the Series 4's were never sold here. The car presents well and turns heads wherever it goes. It is currently running on NSW Historic Rego, and can be sold with an ACT or NSW RWC, otherwise it will be sold unregistered.
