Presenting an all matching numbered, Australian delivered, 1976 Jaguar XJ12 Series II 5.3C. This example was sold new by Ron Hodgson Motors in Parramatta in January 1977. Standing as a milestone model for Jaguar, a SWB coupe in this condition is a true rarity and highly collectible. During the production run in the UK, a total of 10,475 examples across all badges of the series two Jaguar coupes were manufactured including the Daimler badged examples and its 6-cylinder 4.2 Jaguar release, with only 1873 5.3 V12 coupes being built worldwide with a shorter wheel base design. With a total of 241 delivered new by Jaguar across the whole Series II range, this vehicle stands as one of 97 RHD- 5.3L V12’s, delivered new to Australia by Jaguar.
Finished in a unique ‘Greensand’ colour, the paintwork presents excellent for its age and is compliment to the polished chrome fitted trim mounted front and rear. The roof is finished in a black vinyl that contrasts beautifully over its pillarless exterior.
Featuring a fuel injected 5.3L V12 engine, this Series II release is paired to a 3-speed ‘Borg Warner 12’ automatic transmission. Having received a full mechanical rebuilt to its engine and gearbox, this example is a pleasure to drive.
The Cabin is finished in a ‘Biscuit’ brown, factory optioned, leather trim and is in immaculate condition. The ‘Burled Walnut’ dash fascia and steering wheel showcase a prestigious design and sets perfectly over a darkened brown carpet layout. Fitted with the high-end dash instrumentation, this was one of the most powerful luxury vehicles of its time.
Accompanying this vehicle is an extensive history file of works carried out, a framed Heritage certificate, Owners handbook, wiring diagrams and 2 sets of keys. Previously registered in NSW, this stunning example had previous ownership to the XJC Register Secretary of the Jaguar Driver Club and is a well-known, iconic vehicle among the Jaguar scene.
Production of the XJ coupe ran from 1975 through til 1978 in the UK where it offered both a Right-hand drive and Left-hand-drive configuration for export. The Jaguar XJC SII was based on the shorter wheelbase XJ series I release. The Series II XJ-C first appeared at the London Motor Show in 1973 show as a two-door coupe. Carrying the Suffix ‘C’ was significant as it was Sir William Lyons (CEO of Jaguar) last project design before his retirement in 1972. The coupes did not go into production until early 1975 and and had a limited production run before the introduction of the longer wheelbase XJC.
An example of such limited production and in this outstanding condition is a true rarity and would stand as the cornerstone to any Classic car collection.
