Seller's Description
I've owned this Moke (as a project) for the last 12 years. It came to me as a non running car from the family of the original owner. (I still have the original plates and last rego sticker) At the time (for a Moke) it had VERY little rust so I set about completely stripping it to restore the car. Life got in the way and fast forward to last year I retired and finished the car. It has benefitted from only being on the road for 20 years since new, then dry stored by me until finished. Just about everything on the car has either been replaced, refurbished or reconditioned. Originally a 998 cc Moke (Mokes came as either 998, 1098 or later, 1275cc) the engine was blown up so I had local Mini experts source and fully recondition a 1098 (known as the 1100) engine and the original gearbox. 998 Mokes run out of puff at highway speed and especially on hills, so the new engine was built to ensure it performed and was able to do the State speed limit easily and also climb the local hills without struggling. To achieve this the 1100 was bored oversize as necessary, had the head bench flowed then a bespoke camshaft made with profiles to suit, all the normal pistons, rings, bearings, seals, oil pump etc were done as you'd expect. A full gearbox reconditioning kit from the UK was fitted and a changed diff ratio (for the highway speeds without screaming), larger new Cooper S radiator, alternator, brake master cylinder, clutch etc. headers and a larger exhaust. It was built and commisioned by Oz Minisport/Cooper S imports in Bairnsdale The new engine has about 12 kms on it and still needs running in to be finished. The car was stripped to bare metal (10 years ago) with the underside treated and sealed with POR 15 and the inside of the pan sealed with Raptor 2 pak spray on Ute tub liner. I've had the seats rebuilt and reupholstered with a brand new matching canopy with the usual detachable side curtains that were made with extra large vinyl, tinted windows. Now fitted with brand new Sunraysia style rims and new tyres as seen in the photos. The list of things done is far too extensive to put here but I have receipts etc for most things. I also have a lot of photos of the car in various stages of its restoration. Like many people, I have too many projects to warrant keeping this car and specifically for me, back issues mean its not a long term viable hobby car as I find I'm too big for it and it should go to someone who will use it. The Odometer is at 90, 052 but is basically irrelevant as pretty much everything mechanical is new. NB: Im happy to discuss everything about the car on the phone, but due to the excessive phone scams these days, you will need to send me your phone number first or leave a message as I don't answer unknown numbers anymore. Car is in Kalimna West (Lakes Entrance)
