A solid and very straight historic Holden model. A previous owner upgraded it with a Holden 5.0 (304) EFI V8 engine and Borg-Warner T5 5-sp manual gearbox from a VR/VS donor car. It also has 4-wheel disc brakes, Pacemaker headers and a Borg-Warner BT78 LSD with 3.45:1 in the back. Compliance plated in 2009 (see photo). It's an absolute dream to drive, especially for a 40+ year old car - a genuine Driver's Car.
Odometer currently reads 31,829km but that's only how far it's gone since the engine-swap. It's fitted with electric Autometer speedo and tach combo that work off the ECU as per the current driveline's more modern heritage. In preparation for this sale, I put in a brand new clutch kit (DEC22) and have only driven it just enough to bed it in. There's been absolutely no shenanigans with the new clutch, I guarantee it.
In the time we’ve owned it, I have also reconditioned the fuel tank and EFI fuel delivery system and serviced the diff. There's plenty of hassle free classic-motoring joy ahead for the lucky buyer.
The paint is in fair-to-good condition, a lot of it is original from factory, and you'll find assorted stone chips, scratches and wear-and-tear but there's no oxidisation or bare metal. I've fixed the worst of the rust - there's only a minor patch needs doing under the bottom of the driver's door and I'll point it out when you're inspecting it.
The interior is very good - 100% original Fawn vinyl and trim. The centre console is solidly fixed and firm, but needs a new skin of vinyl to get it to match the rest of the interior in quality. I've had that old school dash mat on it since just after I bought it and found an original VB steering wheel and horn pad to take it back to period grandad-spec a couple of years ago. Will come with a mint condition VH steering wheel (brown) that doesn't suit the interior but is just too good to discard. Other spares come with the car as well and they’re getting hard to find.
It has lowered springs front and rear and it rides like a limousine on the 15" alloys and 205/60R15 tyres which are all very good (80%+ tread). Currently registered in QLD on SIVS (Club rego) and that can't be transferred so it's being sold unregistered. The custom PPQ plates on it now say 15AVB ("IS A VB") and they'll be sold separately to the car unless you really want them.
The only troubles I've had with this car are ones I've been able to fix myself. It starts, runs, drives and stops great and it's also one of the fastest cars I've ever owned. My son and I have loved it and doted on it for years, we've roadtripped it and I taught him to drive in it. I'm really only selling it now coz of the mortgage rate hikes and an ultimatum from my wife. I can't sell the wife, unfortunately, so here we are.
