Just arrived - This 1982 Ford Falcon XE Fairmont Ghia ESP is a rare car indeed. The XE Falcon peaked throughout the 80's as Australia's most popular family car, and its not all that hard to see why. After 1982, Ford dropped its beloved V8 from the options list in favour of the more economical six until 1991, and whats a family car to an enthusiast if its not fun on the weekends too. To send the V8 off, Ford produced the 80's GT equivilant - the Eurpoean Sports Package (ESP). This optional package was only available with a V8 from February to November of 1982 on the Fairmont Ghia models and came with lots of sweet goodies. All 1982 ESP's were two toned with orange body moulds, and came with the choice of a C4 auto or 4 speed manual paired to the 5.8L V8, 4.9 V8. Inside the car, the ESP recieved Scheel-brand front bucket seats, a six-guage instrument cluster, power steering, power windows, central locking, power antenna, air condition, and a premium sound system. Underneath, the ESP was fitted with four-wheel disc brakes, a limited-slip diff, Bilstein shocks and lowered springs which gave it a ride as nice as it looked. Once it was sat upon 15 inch gold 'Snowflake' alloys you got luxury and style piled into one rare beast. And this XE is one of the rarest optioned. Run by the 'K' code 4.9L Cleavland V8 and a 4 speed floor shift manual, this XE is 1 of only 100 built. Originally sold by Stillwell Ford, it is now a two owner car with the current owner purchasing the XE in 1986. Since then it has been driven and enjoyed, and recieved a respray in 1996 in it's original Charcoal Metallic. It has retained its original Scheel Gun Metal Grey seats, six-guage cluster and Snowflake rims. As it presents, the car is tidy for its age at 43 years old and comes complete with books, history, and a rear louvre.
