Seller's Description
Hey everyone, up for sale is my 1991 Toyota Sera with the 5 speed manual transmission. The car is registered till January 30th 2021. Asking price is $11,900. Note that due to the COVID - 19 epidemic I have been unable to take proper photos. Therefore various pre-lockdown photos have been used. If you would like any additional photos or have any questions please contact me via text message. Thanks for viewing the advertisement. For those who are still interested I will go into depth about the car below. (For those who would like some more background on the history of the Sera as a whole, I would highly recommend watching Doug demuro's review of the Sera on youtube.) I bought this particular Sera at the end of last year from Newcastle and drove it back to Melbourne. The previous owner had bought the car all the way back in 2010 with 140,000km. By the time I bought it in 2019 it had 145,000km. Naturally if a car sits being unused, they require quite a bit of work to get back up to a high standard. Therefore after I bought the car the following was done at vast expense: 1.) High flow catalytic converter 2.) Windscreen 3.) Brand new wheels 4.) Bridgestone RE003 performance tyres 5.) Driveshafts were completely rebuilt 6.) AC re-gassed 7.) Interior steam clean 8.) Exterior detail (glass restorer, rainx, cut, polish, wax.) 9.) Passenger door strut 10.) Tint removal 11.) Both front seat belts 12.) Engine oil, gearbox oil, coolant, spark plugs, and air filter 13.) Timing belt, water pump, ac belt, and serpentine belt 14.) Numerous oil seals. 15.) Battery 16.) Head gasket I have receipts for everything listed above. I can take photos of the receipts and send them to you if you require. The previous owner has also recently replaced all 4 shocks with KYB units. They have also replaced the thermostat. As seen in the photos the body of the car is in good condition. But please note this is still a 30 year old car. The car was driving around the streets of Japan as the Berlin wall was falling down, long before DVDs or smartphones were ever invented. So the car does have a couple marks or imperfections here or there. There is a small inverted dent on the bonnet. The bumpers suffer from a bit of sag. The paint on the front bumper does have a few stone chips. Mechanically the car has a couple of minor things that require attention. There is a bit of a belt squeak as you start up the car. The belts are brand new so I think one of the pulleys might not be aligned perfectly. In addition there is now a minor oil leak. This is frustrating as most of the oil seals were replaced when the head gasket and timing belt was getting done. Please note that none of these nuisances negatively affects the drive-ability of the car. I have done 5,000km Since January 2020 and have never been inconvenienced by the car. A RWC was done on the car back in January. In terms of getting a new one, the only worry would be the oil leak. Of course if you so desired the oil leak area could be washed to get it through. The car was run on the dyno to make sure everything was healthy. It performed flawlessly producing 60.2kw at the wheels. This is a very healthy number for this engine. The sun shields that came with the car back in 1991 are in the boot with their original toyota bag. The car drives beautifully as it weighs just 930kg. That is nearly lotus Elise territory, and a whole 300kg lighter than a modern day sports car in the 86/BRZ. I absolutely love this car whether it is driving it, taking photos, or talking to other car enthusiasts about it at car shows. If you have any questions, or want to discuss anything about the Sera please do not hesitate to contact me. I always love talking about cars. I hope this car will go to an enthusiast who will enjoy it as much as I have. Thanks :)
