The new XK8 was a huge improvement in mechanical reliability amongst Jaguars and rode the fine line between a modern car with a classic feel. The XK8 boasted a 4.2L 'AJ34' V8 that was rated at 300hp and granted the car a top speed of 250km/h. This was all channelled into a 6-speed 'ZF 6HP26' automatic transmission, the same that was used in the later models.
