Jaguar to farewell F-Type V8 with ZP Edition
Jaguar’s transition to a fully electric brand will soon mean no more sports cars with internal combustion engines, ending a lineage that stretches back 75 years to the XK120 and even further for the SS models. Before they close this chapter, Jaguar will produce a limited-edition version of the F-Type – the ZP Edition.
“As Jaguar embarks on the boldest transformation in its history, to become a modern luxury all-electric brand from 2025, this is an unrepeatable celebration of Jaguar’s internal combustion sports car provenance,” said Rawdon Glover, Jaguar’s Managing Director.
“F-Type has captivated sports car drivers for more than a decade, just as the E-type did five decades before it. The ZP Edition is the ultimate celebration of that lineage, joining an illustrious roster of heritage-inspired collector’s editions including the 2015 Project 7 and 2020 Heritage 60 Edition.”
Taking its name from the ‘Project ZP’ racing E-types that were campaigned shortly after that model’s launch in 1961, the F-Type ZP Edition will be limited to 150 units worldwide, split across coupe and convertible body styles.
Colours for the limited-edition are inspired by the Project ZP E-types, too. Oulton Blue Gloss and Crystal Grey Gloss were used for the E-type Project ZP Collection restorations offered by Jaguar Classic earlier this year, but neither colour has been offered on the F-Type until now.
Further re-inforcing the racing inspiration behind this limited-edition, hand-painted roundels in Porcelain White Gloss are applied to the doors, with the same colour on the grille surrounds.
Gloss Black 20-inch forged alloy wheels are common to both paint choices, as are brake calipers and selected exterior accents in Gloss Black. Subtle ‘ZP’ identification features on the wheels and front guards.
Inside, Mars Red and Ebony duotone leather trim is used on ZP Editions with the Oulton Blue paint, while Navy Blue and Ebony leather trim is used for the Crystal Grey option. Model-exclusive interior features for both paint/trim options include horizontal seat fluting, ZP Edition identification on the dash and sill plates, as well as an SV Bespoke ‘One of 150’ console plaque.
Mechanically, the ZP Edition is powered by Jaguar’s top-of-the-range supercharged 5.0-litre V8, with unchanged maximum outputs of 423kW and 700Nm for the limited-edition. The eight-speed ZF ‘Quickshift’ automatic, all-wheel drive and Jaguar’s Intelligent Driving Dynamics technology are all standard, too. Acceleration to 100km/h from standstill with this combination is achieved in 3.7 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 300km/h.
Of the 150 units of the F-Type ZP Edition to be built for global release, only 10 are allocated for the ‘home market’ of the UK, but Australia will receive 24. We will only get the coupe version, though, split across 12 units in Oulton Blue and 12 in Crystal Grey.
Local pricing for the F-Type ZP Edition is $373,547 (plus LCT and ORCs), which is significantly more expensive than previous F-Type special editions offered locally. It’s close to $44,000 dearer than the F-Type Heritage Edition and almost $90,000 more expensive than the F-Type R 75. Regardless, the ZP Edition’s allure as the last petrol-engined Jaguar sports car should see all 24 units destined for Australia find buyers easily. Deliveries are expected in Q1, 2024.
