Toyota GR86 racecars available to buy for 2024 TGRA 86 Series
Ahead of this year’s Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia (TGRA) 86 Series getting underway in July, Toyota announced that race-ready cars for the 2024 season of the one-make championship are now available to purchase. Developed and built by Neal Bates Motorsport, the GR86 racecars are priced from $89,990 each and sold as a complete, turnkey package.
Using the roadgoing GR86 as a base, Neal Bates Motorsport (NBM) adds a full roll cage, race seat and six-point harness, motorsport spec steering wheel, ECU and instruments, control wheels and tyres, as well as upgraded suspension, brakes, exhaust, oil cooler and clutch.
At 174kW/250Nm, the next-gen GR86 racer is more powerful than the GR86 road car, more agile and around 70kg lighter.
For the 2024 season of the TGRA 86 Series, Toyota Gazoo Racing are expanding the availability of their GR86 racer, offering the new race car to anyone who wishes to participate. Previously, race-prepared 86 cars were only available to existing competitors in the grassroots racing series.
The first unit in the 2024 GR86 production run went to Jarrod Hughes, winner of the Kaizen Award for continuous improvement in last year’s TGRA 86 Series.
"The Toyota 86 has been a fantastic car to race these past couple of years, but the GR86 takes it to a whole new level," Jarrod said.
"With more power and torque and much sharper handling, it's so much quicker through the corners and the feel and feedback you get just inspires greater confidence to push on harder.
"Neal and the crew at NBM have done an awesome job in turning what was a significantly improved road car into a real track weapon and I can't wait to line up on the grid for the first race in 2024.”
This year marks the seventh season for the one-make series that has produced talent like Will Brown, Declan Fraser and Broc Feeney. Toyota remain committed to the TGRA 86 Series until at least the end of 2026.
