My beautiful 1951 Bedford K-type dropside lorry is for sale. I purchased this truck ’Teddy' in 2022 and brought it over from England to WA via ship.
The lorry features the original 3.5 litre, six-cylinder petrol engine. Cylinder capacity = 3519 CC.
It has a four-speed gearbox and a reverse.
This classic Bedford was fully rebuilt from the ground up from 1993-1997 and was shown all over the UK, winning many rosettes and prizes.
The vehicle is fully licensed and runs beautifully. I use it as a work vehicle and promotional vehicle at events, but now require a larger truck.
There’s no rust on the vehicle and it presents in a very high condition.
The vehicle is always stored undercover.
The interior of the cab is spotless, sporting two brown vinyl seats and black dash and roof lining. The colour combination is impressive and it looks like it has just rolled out of a 1950’s dealership.
I have the headboard that came with the vehicle. I had a new headboard made as I didn’t want to remove the lovely hand written signage on the other one. I also have the UK number plates, the original manual, the original warranty document, the original service voucher, the original instruction book, two Bedford shop manuals and a service parts manual. The truck was in great condition when I purchased it, but I had the following work carried out on it: The lamp casings, bonnet, grill top, cab top, and under the windscreens were professionally stripped and repainted (to remove the damaged paintwork). The lamps were resilvered to increase brightness and visual appeal of the front lights. New ignition switch was installed (old one occasionally smoked). Rewiring of the ignition switch and lighting. New brakes. Tray repainted, inside and out.
I’m in contact with the previous owner’s son, who has a great love for the vehicle and can share more of its history. I’m happy to assist with interstate transport for interstate buyers.
