1955 m.g. tf 1500 roadster

MGTF1500 (Chassis No. 9177) represents a rare opportunity to purchase a righthand drive, matching numbers, totally rebuilt, body-off chassis recent restoration. Examples of the scope of the restoration involved the exacting task of re-wooding the body tub of this car as well as all body panels being taken back to bare metal. Original parts were used throughout the restoration including correctly dated Lucas fittings and also the steering wheel is a rare uncracked, Wilmot Breeden original item. All fasteners used by the factory on TFs have been put back in the correct place. TFs have rack and pinion steering, independent front suspension and decent brakes which allows for effortless driving in today’s traffic, and this is all in excellent condition in this TF. The Concours factory detail of this classic MGTF1500 has been rated by experienced judges to be an outstanding example of the marque. This TF exhibits attention to originality and authenticity detail which would rival any MG on the world stage. The owner and restorer of this car has extensive experience with the TF model including winning Australian National Concours titles. Of the total of 9600 MGTFs manufactured in Abingdon, England between 1953 to 1955 only 3400 TFs were fitted with the more powerful 1500 XPEG engine. The engine is the original unit that was fitted to this car. Very few RHD TF1500s were manufactured as the majority were exported to the USA in left hand drive form. A complete genuine factory TF tool kit is included with the sale of the car together with a TF handbook and TF workshop manual. In addition, there is a new half tonneau which the owner had made to follow the original pattern manufactured and issued by the Abingdon Factory that complements the wet weather gear.
