Seller's Description
This is the one, Daytona Bronze 81837 “Bathurst” Monaro with history. Some known, some still unknown despite our best attempts. What you want to know first; Genuine 81837 Monaro with original tags on car, non-matching numbers 350 Chev with genuine “trap door racing sump”, non-matching numbers period correct 4 speed Saginaw. Original 10 Bolt LSD. Original tail shaft, original Interior, and just about everything else. The body, is very good, older paint and has some cosmetic blemishes, if it were a lesser model the blemishes wouldn’t rate a mention. But it’s a Bathurst so it needs to be said. Bottom line is it’s good, bloody good in fact. K Frame removed for full front suspension rebuild and engine bay painting when engine built. Everything refurbished. Chassis is mint, no rust and no ugliness, floors are perfect and nothing to be done. Interior - seats have no rips or tears, door trims good but plastic chrome needs replacing. Hood lining is perfect and crash pad has no issues. Needs floor carpet duo to factory option heel hole on driver’s side, currently unseen due to floor mats. Engine - Chev replacement 4 bolt mains block, Scat crank, SRP pistons, Comp Cams roller hydraulic camshaft, victor Jnr single plane and 650 brawler carb. Great expense to resurrect the 68 Chevrolet Double Hump “Fuellie” heads. Why? Because if you had a competition car in the late 60’s or early 70’ running a small block, it had these heads. Has roller rockers so the factory valve covers wont clear without a spacer. We have the factory valve covers. Gearbox, rebuilt with another period correct Saginaw case. The old case was unsalvageable but will come with the car. Vehicle History - the car was previously purchased for a low budget documentary movie “All the Tired Horses” . The movie was to be a history of competition Australian Muscle Cars. The movie never happened and the car was sold to a dealer in Adelaide from whom the current owner purchased. The information received will be passed on to the new owner however suffice to say that despite great effort and some hot leads we have not been able to conclusively prove so details will remain un mentioned here. What we can say is the car has been painted white in its early life as evidenced when front end was restored. It also has an unusual key operated ball valve fuel shutoff on the driver’s side floor. Ultimately this is to be purchased for what it is, a genuine HT 81837. The sale is a reluctant one, the current owner bought and lightly restored to drive and enjoy. Priorities have had to change so it is For Sale, not On Sale. The new owner will need to be a passionate Monaro enthusiast and preferably purchase this car to drive and enjoy.
